Built from repurposed shipping containers, Quartyard is a wildly popular outdoor event space and hangout spot. A group of architecture students from NewSchool came up with the idea to convert a giant vacant lot into an eco-friendly outdoor community space. The space is home to a coffee shop, restaurant, dog park, beer garden, music venue and an ever rotating array of food trucks. Quartyard hosts a diverse schedule of fun events, including farmers markets, film festivals and outdoor concerts.

The group behind Quartyard, aptly named “RadLab” is a perfect example of the type of design-driven folks that have used fresh ideas to turn the East Village into San Diego’s next great district.
